Report (One Day Special Plantation Drive)
On 17th September 2024, a special plantation drive was held under the campaign "Plant4Mother," organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (DHE), Panchkula, and the Eco Club of Government Girls College, Rewari. The drive aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and climate change while actively engaging students in planting.
Objectives:
- To promote the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change.
- To engage students in environmental conservation activities.
- To foster a sense of responsibility and care for nature among students.
Activities:
The plantation drive commenced with an introductory session led by Dr. Kavita Saini, incharge of the Eco Club, who highlighted the significance of trees in our ecosystem and the campaign's objectives. Principal Dr. Jyoti Yadav emphasized the role of education in environmental sustainability and encouraged students to participate actively.
Participation:
Fifty enthusiastic Life Science students, NSS volunteers willingly participated in the event. Under the guidance of eco club members, including Dr. Sucheta, Mrs. Nisha, and Jyoti, NSS PO Dr. Swaty. These students engaged in planting saplings of various saplings like Aloe Vera, Tulsi, Rubber plant, Ihroa, Coleus, Tordyline,Lemon grass, Paan, Haldi, Patharchatt, sdabahar and Jasmine chosen for their ecological importance.
Plantation Process:
Students were divided into teams and equipped with necessary tools, including shovels and watering cans. The teams creatively planned their plantation areas, ensuring that they chose the appropriate spots for sapling growth. Throughout the process, they were reminded of the environmental benefits of each type of sapling being planted, including fruit-bearing, medicinal, and ornamental trees.
Conclusion:
The one-day plantation drive successfully instilled a sense of environmental duty among the participating students. The "Plant4Mother" initiative was not only a hands-on activity but also an educational experience that underscored the crucial relationship between humans and nature. The event concluded with a pledge from all participants to actively participate in future environmental activities and promote green practices in their communities.
